Cratex Industrial Packing Ltd. was founded in 1975 to meet the growing demand for an export packing and crating company in the Vancouver area. Since then, it has grown from a one room shed to its present facilities - a modern office, warehouse and manufacturing facility in the geographic heart of Greater Vancouver. Cratex is Western Canada's longest established and most experienced export packing company.
In response to recognizing the needs of our customers for added services, we began a new division in 1997 - Cratex Product Protection. This division of Cratex provides specialized services for the protection of our customers' products. Services include fine art packing, and foam-in-place packing. We are also an authorized distributor of Cortec corrosion inhibiting products.
- Always on the look out for new opportunities to expand our services, the autumn of 1999 saw the formation of yet another division - Cratex Environmental Protection. Although we have been involved in the shrink wrapping of goods destined for overseas markets for over 20 years, we have now expanded our services to cover domestic needs. We are equipped and ready to provide heavy duty shrink wrap plastic covers for boats, equipment, loaded trailers, etc. and to install partitions and containments for job sites and all other applications requiring environmental protection.

Foam-in-place Packing
Utilizing our sophisticated Sealed Aire foam-in-place system, we can quickly create a protective, light-weight, low-cost packaging which is custom formed to an object's size and shape. This packaging system can be used for an endless number of applications. We also create custom foam packaging inserts to be used on repeat shipments. These inserts, made to exactly fit an object's profile, are especially useful for shipping fragile objects and sensitive high-tech components.
Fine Art Packing
The next time you are shipping a framed piece, consider having a wooden crate custom built to protect your valuable asset. We pack and crate paintings to standards established by The National Gallery in Washington D.C. Wooden crates are built using quality materials including foam linings to minimize shock damage. Using our modern foam-in-place equipment, we can custom pack your delicate pieces as well. Whether your are shipping a sculpture, native art or an antique of any size, we can create a package uniquely designed to protect your piece during shipment.
Cortec Corrosion Inhibiting Products
Cratex is an authorized Western Canadian distributor of Cortec corrosion inhibiting products. A full range of corrosion inhibitors is available to protect ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including formulations that protect combinations of metals. There's a Cortec solution whether you need temporary protection during in-plant processing, medium-term protection for shipment and storage or extended protection for lay-up, mothballing and field service. Cortec's formulations, the newest chemical technology available, help alleviate your concerns in the areas of health, safety, flammability and pollution control.

Cratex recently moved into modern new facilities designed expressly for the industry we are in. With 15,000 square feet of indoor space and a large fenced and black topped yard, Cratex can handle small and large shipments alike. Located in the geographic heart of Greater Vancouver, we are in close proximity to the Vancouver waterfront, Vancouver International Airport and the U.S. border. Our facilities are secure and electronically monitored. In addition, inventory control and documentation are maintained on our internal computer network.
In addition to our excellent facilities, we have the equipment to provide our services efficiently and professionally. This equipment includes forklifts with up to 30,000 lb. lifting capacity (total lifting capacity up to 80,000 lbs.) and overhead crane. We also utilize industrial application panel saws, cut-off saws, wall jigs and pneumatic nailers in our manufacturing process. In addition, we are set up with the equipment to provide mobile services for our customers.
